UCPR opens nominations window for J-P St. Pierre Award

The United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) has opened the nominations window for the 2025 Jean-Paul (J-P) St. Pierre Award.

The award is giving to two UCPR residents each year, honouring them for their exceptional contributions to the community, in many areas such as arts, culture, business, charitable work, health, education, public service, media, communications, sports, recreation, agriculture, the environment, or others.

The award was created in memory Jean-Paul St. Pierre, who served as mayor of the Township of Russell, as well as warden of the UCPR Council. He passed away in 2014.

He was a resident of the Village of Russell for more than 40 years and also held positions such as municipal councillor, trustee for the Police Village of Russell, and chair of the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus.

The recipients will receive their recognition during this year’s UCPR Warden’s Banquet on Nov. 22.

“There are so many deserving and dedicated individuals in our region, and I am looking forward to honouring one or two of those residents,” said Yves Laviolette, warden of the UCPR. “Their commitment, hard work, generosity, and kindness will not go unnoticed.”

Any individual residing in the UCPR who, as part of their professional duties or otherwise, has made a significant contribution to the community is eligible for this award. To submit a nomination or for more information, residents are invited to consult the UCPR’s website, prescott-russell.on.ca, or send an e-mail to prix-jpstpierre@prescott-russell.on.ca.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, Oct. 10 2025 at 4 p.m.
