Police investigating suspicious male along OFSC A/Fitness Trail between Hammond and Bourget

The Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating reports of a suspicious male on a local bike trail on Canada Day.

On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a female cyclist was biking along the OFSC A/Fitness Trail between Hammond and Bourget in the city of Clarence-Rockland when she noticed a male cyclist behind her. She pulled to the side allowing him to pass and as he got closer to her, he slowed down and attempted to touch her in an inappropriate manner. She stopped as the man continued going east on the trail.

Shortly after, the woman resumed cycling when she had an encounter with the same man who started following her and made an inappropriate sexual proposition. When she did not respond, the suspect repeated the request and offered her money. The victim ignored him and stated she would contact police. The suspect then fled the area, continuing eastbound on the trail.

The suspect is described as a white male, tanned, in his early 20s, with a slim build, blond hair, and a moustache. He spoke English with no accent and was wearing a sleeveless grey shirt and dark shorts (not tight-fitting cycling attire). He was riding a black bicycle.

The Russell County OPP is continuing the investigation. If you or anyone you know has any further information, please contact the Russell County OPP at 613-443-4499 or OPP Communication Centre at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
