The Clarence-Rockland Arena will officially be known as the Desjardins Centre.
The City of Clarence-Rockland finalized a naming rights agreement following an unsolicited proposal from a local business, transitioning the identity of the prominent multi-purpose community sports complex under the Desjardins banner.
The five-year agreement stems from a major financial contribution that will help support this essential community gathering place and enhance the experience of the thousands of residents who visit the arena each year.
“At Desjardins, being a co-operative means helping communities thrive,” said Billy Boucher, chief executive officer of Desjardins Ontario Credit Union. “The Desjardins Centre is much more than an arena. It’s where young people develop confidence, families come together, volunteers give their time, and lasting memories are created. We are proud that this investment will help keep this gathering place vibrant and accessible for the people of Clarence-Rockland while creating opportunities to give back through initiatives that support both physical and financial well-being.”
The municipal government finalized the naming rights agreement, officially updating the venue’s status on September 8, 2026. This change follows a public process initiated earlier in the year when the City of Clarence-Rockland issued a Notice of Intent regarding an unsolicited sponsorship offer to secure the building’s naming rights.
The City received an “unsolicited proposal from a local business expressing interest in acquiring the naming rights,” which included a minimum annual financial contribution of $60,000.
The facility will carry the Desjardins Centre name moving forward for all programming, bookings, and community events.
“Investments in our community spaces have a direct impact on the quality of life of our residents,” said Mario Zanth, mayor of the City of Clarence-Rockland and warden of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. “This contribution from Desjardins will enhance the experience of everyone who uses the arena, whether they are young athletes, volunteers, families, or spectators.”
Desjardins Ontario Credit Union has been a long-standing partner of the City of Clarence Rockland.
The official inauguration will take place on September 20 at 2:30 p.m., during the Rockland Nationals game against the Smiths Falls Bears.
Located at 60 Canadian Lane in Rockland, the twin-pad arena, which opened in 2011, features two National Hockey League (NHL)-sized ice rinks. It serves as a major hub for public skating, local sports, the Nationals Junior A hockey team and the CIH Academy.
