The head coach of the Rockland Nationals and the club’s leading scorer received some special honour from the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL).
Justin Pereira, who wrapped up his third season behind the bench for the Nationals, was named the recipient of the Darcy Haugan/Mark Cross Memorial Award as the CJHL Coach of the Year. He guided the Nationals to an unprecedented 52-3-0-0 regular season record and captured a second straight Bogart Cup title.
Nats forward Gabriel Le Houillier earned most valuable player (MVP) honours from the CJHL after a historic season which saw him lead the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) in scoring with 120 points (59 goals, 61 assists) in just 52 regular-season games. He was also named the CJHL’s top forward and earned the Arthur K. Neilson Scholarship and Ability Award, which recognized his exceptional academic standing as a straight-A student studying business online via Algonquin College.
