Driver charged after crashing car into home in Bourget

A 43-year-old man from Rockwood, Ontario is facing several charges after he drove a vehicle into a house in Bourget over the weekend. 

Russell County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report that a vehicle drove into a residence on Saturday, Nov. 15 at roughly 8:30 a.m. Officers were notified that the driver had fled the scene on foot. The OPP Canine Unit was later deployed to help search for the suspect.

He has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada (CC), the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), and the Highway Traffic Act (HTA):

  • Possession of property obtained by crime – CC
  • Mischief – rendering property useless – CC
  • Failure to comply with an undertaking – CC
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – CDSA
  • Careless driving – HTA
  • Driving while under suspension – HTA

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on January 7, 2026.
