There\u2019s a new walk-in clinic in Rockland, giving residents a chance to seek healthcare services in their own community.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Opening its doors in mid-February, the new walk-in clinic is located inside the Pharmasave pharmacy on Cumberland Street and offers services to community members three times a week on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Samy Gorban, the owner of the pharmacy, has recruited three doctors who will be working at the clinic.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a need for something like this, and the demand is there,\u201d said Gorban. \u201cThis is an option for people in our community to get healthcare services they need.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Luc Clement has been practicing medicine for over three decades and was semi-retired. He decided to jump back in for an opportunity to work and provide healthcare services for people in the community he calls home.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But it wasn\u2019t without some gently nudging from Gorban, who presented the opportunity to Dr. Clement to join his walk-in clinic.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The two men have known each other for quite some time.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the community I have called home, and for me, it\u2019s a way of giving back,\u201d said Dr. Clement.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Being the only walk-in clinic option in the area, the team at Pharmasave is aware there may be increasing demand from the community as more people become aware the walk-in clinic exists.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There has been no heavy promotion or marketing, but the plan is to expand the number of days the clinic is open and the services the doctors are able to provide.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Gorban and Dr. Clement noted for now the clinic will offer services three days a week and if they are able to successfully bring in more doctors, then expansion plans can take place.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that recruiting doctors and getting people to come and work is not easy,\u201d said Gorban. \u201cThere is a demand for doctors and healthcare services, and not everyone has access to them. If we can get more doctors, we would love to expand.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Clarence-Rockland Mayor Mario Zanth said he\u2019s happy to see the Pharmasave team bringing the walk-in clinic option to the city.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
