{"id":26309,"date":"2022-11-16T15:17:31","date_gmt":"2022-11-16T20:17:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/editionap.ca\/?p=26309"},"modified":"2026-02-17T20:53:25","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T19:53:25","slug":"new-clarence-rockland-council-takes-oath","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/visionrockland.ca\/en\/politique\/new-clarence-rockland-council-takes-oath\/","title":{"rendered":"New Clarence-Rockland council takes oath"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After taking their oath in front of a crowd of friends, family and municipal officials, the councillors offered their inaugural address, thanking residents for their votes and providing a brief outlook on the coming four years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a lot of work ahead of us,\u201d said newcomer Simon-Olivier P\u00e9ladeau-Houle, councillor for Ward 6. \u201cAfter two long years of the pandemic, we have to continue building a strong and sustainable economy. It may be a long and difficult road but I think we have the best council to face the situation and work for the best interest of our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Zanth addressed council for the first time as the elected mayor of Clarence-Rockland, setting the tone for his first full four-year mandate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have never been so confident in the administration we have right now,\u201d said Zanth. \u201cSometimes you get a good administration and a council that doesn\u2019t listen, and sometimes you get a good council and an administration that doesn\u2019t listen. But these next four years is a gold mine. This is where we have an outstanding administration and an outstanding council. We owe it to the municipality to make sure that we work together, and we do everything we can for the best interest of everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>St\u00e9phane Fournier, newly elected councillor for Ward 2, was not present for the inaugural meeting and will be sworn in at city hall on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Regular council meetings are scheduled to resume on Monday, November 21.
