Nats unbeaten streak ends at 15 games

The Rockland Nationals’ win streak has come to an end after the team lost consecutive games last week.

After losing to the Kemptville 73’s and the Ottawa Junior Senators, the reigning and defending Bogart Cup champions saw their unbeaten streak snap at 15 games. Despite suffering consecutive losses for the first time this season, the Nats remain atop the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) standings.

Rockland will look to get back to their winning ways when they travel to Brockville to take on the Braves on Friday, Nov. 14.

 Against Kemptville

The Kemptville 73’s became the first team this season to hand the Nationals a loss. They beat the visitors by a score of 5-4 on Friday, Nov. 7.

The loss snapped Rockland’s impressive 15 game winning streak.

The Nationals jumped out to a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal by Joshua Penney, but the home team stormed back with four straight goals to make it 4-1.

The Nats were able to tie things up a 4-4 early in the third period with goals from Mathys Laurent, Gabriel Le Houillier and Mavrick Brunet.

Kemptville’s Owen Redmond ended any hopes of a Rockland victory by giving his team the 5-4 lead with just over five minutes left in regulation. It proved to be the game winner, giving Kempville the 5-4 win against the league’s best team.

   Taking on Ottawa

The Nationals were looking to bounce back after suffering their first loss of the season against the Kemptville 73’s when they took on the Ottawa Junior Senators in another road matchup.

On this night, the Sens got the best of Rockland.

Ottawa jumped out to leads of 2-0 and 3-1, and while the Nats were able to make it a 3-2 game, it was all they could muster.

Joshua Penney scored again for Rockland, while Alex Kelloway scored Rockland’s second goal.
