Castors and Rockets fight for key wins

“Let’s hope not,” said Castors Head Coach Tim Kosch. “Though they (Rockets) are a good adversary. We’ve had some real back-and-forth hockey for the fans.”

The Clarence Creek Castors and the North Dundas Rockets are now three wins versus two in the Castors’ favour in their seven-game elimination series. The next game is Saturday night at the Chesterville Arena. If the Castors win, that will finish the series. If the Rockets win, then both teams are back at the Clarence Creek Arena Sunday night for one final game.

“It’s more of a mental thing,” said Coach Kosch, regarding the key to the Castors beating the Rockets. “We have the skills to do it. We have the team work to do it. We just have to focus.”

Castors versus Rockets

The Rockets got their first win in the series with a 2-1 score March 16 at the Clarence Creek Arena. Nicholas Gaumond scored the single Castors goal with help from Alexandre Charlebois.

Last Saturday night in Chesterville the Rockets got their second win and tied up the series, beating the Castors 5-1. Josh Préfontain scored the one goal for Clarence Creek with assistance from Jacob Clement and Jacob Servant.

Sunday night back at the Beavers Den, the Castors broke the tie in their favour with a 4-3 win against North Dundas.

Cooper Hudson scored two goals for Clarence Creek while Nicholas Gaumond and Nikolas Guindon added single points to the scoreboard total. Assisting on the goal scoring were Tristan Bolduc, Xavier Brunet, Jacob Servant, Connor Stewart, and Jack Thor. Shane Morris guarded the net in all three games.

The Castors and Rockets face each other again Saturday in Chesterville. If the Rockets win, the series finale will be the following Sunday evening in Clarence Creek.
