Clarence-Rockland celebrated a century of tradition on Saturday, September 16, with the 100th edition of the Russell branch of the Ontario Plowmen’s Association plowing match.
Hosted on the farm of Gaetan and Alain Meloche along Landry Street in Clarence-Rockland, nearly 40 competitors came out to see who could create the straightest and most uniform crowns and furrows with their tractors and horses.
The Ontario Plowmen’s Association only began in 1911, making the Russell County branch competition one of the oldest in the organization’s history.
The local Scouts troop was on hand to provide the barbeque, and MacEwen and Rockland Ford were supporting from the sidelines as well.
No results have yet to be released and the winners are expected to be announced on October 3.
