Two people charged following bank robbery on Laurier Street

Two people have neem arrested following a reported bank robbery in Clarence-Rockland in late February.

The incident occurred on Friday, February 27 just before 9:30 a.m. when Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to reports of a robbery in progress on Laurier Street. Reports indicated that two people entered a bank where one of the suspects brandished what appeared to be a black handgun.

The suspects were seen fleeing the area in a black Ford F-150. At approximately 9:43 a.m., Hawkesbury OPP officers saw a vehicle matching the description of the getaway truck used in the robbery driving on County Road 17 in Plantagenet. The vehicle was stopped, and two individuals were taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, 57-year-old, Daniel Loyer, from Loyalist Township, Ontario and 59-year-old, Denis Richard of Gatineau, Quebec, were charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada (CC):

– Armed robbery

– Disguise with intent

The two accused parties were held for bail and remain in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
