Police find dead body after responding to apartment building fire on Laurier Street

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers located a dead person after responding to an apartment building that was on fire in Clarence-Rockland over the weekend.

In a release, the OPP said on Saturday, Nov. 16. officers with the Russell County OPP Detachment were dispatched to a fire at an apartment building on Laurier Street along with firefighters with the Clarence-Rockland Fire Department who were able to quickly distinguish the blaze and contain the fire into one apartment unit.

During the response, officers were notified by firefighters that a deceased person was found inside the apartment where the fire was contained.

The Office of the Chief Coroner (OCC), the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM), and the OPP Forensic Identification Services are assisting with the investigation. The incident and death have been determined to be non-suspicious in nature.
