97-year-old dead in Highway 17 crash

A two-vehicle crash on County Road 17 in Clarence-Rockland resulted in the death of a 97-year-old passenger and non-life-threatening injuries to the driver, 89.

Just after 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, Prescott-Russell paramedics and the Clarence-Rockland Fire Department responded to the accident near Ramage Road following reports of a car striking a transport trailer.

The 97-year-old passenger of the westbound car was pronounced dead at the scene, and the 89-year-old driver was airlifted to hospital by Ornge air ambulance.

As of Thursday, the investigation remains ongoing.
