The Rockland Nationals Junior A Hockey Club announced its leadership group for the 2026-2027 Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) season.
Jeremy Belleau has been named team captain, while Taylor Laframboise, Lucas Bertolini, Théo Landry and Moussa Seydi will serve as assistant captains for this season.
“These players have done an amazing job at forming connections on and off the ice with other players,” said Justin Pereira, head coach of the Rockland Nationals. “They went out of their way to help the young guys, take them under their wing and really establish a sense of leadership.”
Pereira noted that he had an idea of who would lead the team this season but wanted to see how things played out over the course of training camp and the first few weeks of the CCHL season.
“We have set a really high standard with this program the last few years, and for us, we wanted players who were committed to winning and having that mentality of looking out for their teammates,” said Pereira. “We have a heck of a good group this season.”
Laframboise said having an ‘A’ on his jersey this season is a true honour.
“It means a lot to have the faith of the coaching staff,” said Laframboise. “It’s honour to be part of this team and this program. Everyone really makes you feel important on and off the ice, and everyone, from the ownership, general manager, coaching staff are always looking out for us.”
Landry said the camaraderie and brotherhood makes his job as a leader easier.
“If you look at our group, we have 26 leaders in my opinion,” he added. “Any one of these guys can be in this position.
We are committed to this program, and we are committed to winning. You see it at the rink, at practice, and during games how hungry these guys are to win.”
While he’s honoured to wear the ‘C’ for the Rockland Nationals, Belleau said if it wasn’t him who was named captain, any other player the coaching staff chose would have done a marvelous job as captain.
“I am not the only leader on this team, we have a room full of guys fully capable of leading,” said Belleau. “I believe in this team. We believe in ourselves. We care about each other on and off the ice, and that’s what makes us so special.”
