The controversial decision to tear down Cobb’s Lake Creek Bridge in Saint-Pascal-Baylon is back up for debate after a closed-door session of council revealed “new information” to be considered by councillors and the administration.
In March, following a report from the city administration on the use of Cobb’s Lake Creek Bridge and the cost to replace the aging infrastructure, council determined demolition of the bridge at a cost of more than $330,000 was the best option for the municipality.
Claiming the bridge was little used caused significant backlash from the farming and recreational vehicle community who regularly use the Du Lac Road route in the summer and during harvest time.
On September 28, Clarence-Rockland councillors held a closed session of council in which the new information received forced council to reconsider the decision to demolish the bridge, according to a notice motion presented by Councillor Simon-Olivier Peladeau-Houle, whose ward covers Saint-Pascal-Baylon.
