The City of Clarence-Rockland is advising residents that staff are removing the sandbag filling stations by this Friday, May 22.
As the municipality prepared for flooding, the City activated its Flood Management Guide and its Emergency Management Team prepared sandbag filling stations to support local protection efforts.
The City set up three sandbag filling locations at:
Voisine Road – near the road entrance
Pago Road – vacant lot near civic number 450
Wilson Road – vacant lot near civic number 243
Now that water levels are declining, the City announced the stations will be removed.
For residents looking to dispose of debris left behind by the river, please note that each residential address in Clarence-Rockland may dispose of up to 140 kilograms (kg) of materials per year free of charge at the landfill. Regular fees will apply for any additional weight. Yard waste, branches (up to 12 inches in diameter), household hazardous waste (limit of 100 kg), blue box and black box recycling, scrap metal (without refrigerants), tires, textiles and electronics will also be accepted free of charge, provided they are properly sorted.
