The community of Clarence-Rockland celebrated a new chapter last week.
Local leaders, consultants, realtors, and construction partners joined the developers of Chateau 632, a new adult inspired property on Laurier Street in Clarence-Rockland. The developers celebrated the groundbreaking of the project on Thursday, Nov. 13, signaling that construction is set to begin on the new development.
“What we are providing is something different, something unique and a place where people can feel comfortable living in and can call home,” said Kwesi Bourne a resident of Rockland and part of the developer team. “It has been quite the journey to get to this point, and I just want to thank everyone that has been involved.”
Chateau 632 will feature 20 rental units, ranging from different types to meet peoples’ needs. The facility itself will have an elevator for its patrons, along with an indoor gym, parking, all inclusive rent, and high-end appliances. It is centrally located on Laurier Street, in walking distance to many restaurants, shops and other amenities.
“I am so excited to see this project come to life,” said Neel Chadha, who is business partners with Bourne on the Chateau 632 project. “I have no doubt that the building we are creating is going to be a place for mainly seniors to call home for many, many years to come and provide a different type of housing development here in Rockland.”
Clarence-Rockland Mayor Mario Zanth thanked the project’s team for investing in the city of Clarence-Rockland.
“Not everyone can afford the $800,000 or $900,000 home being built, and not only are we in a housing crisis, but we are also in a people crisis because some people can’t find a place to afford to live in,” said Mayor Zanth. “I love seeing these types of projects and this is exactly what our municipality needs. I look forward to seeing this completed.”
The goal is to have the building fully constructed by early 2027.
