There will be a new outdoor pavillon added to the Village of Lefaivre’s riverside community park.
Alfred-Plantagenet Township council approved awarding the construction contract to Charles Dicaire of Luxus Timber Frames and the Lefaivre Lions Club is providing the money for the project.
During their September 2 session council members reviewed an administration brief summarizing the history of the proposed Pavillon project for RiversidePark with an explanation why Luxus Timber Frames is the best contractor for the project.
The township’s procurement policy dealing with contracts states that any contract over $50,000 should go to tender through a sealed bid process.
The riverside park site for the project, with its bowl-shaped slope towards the shoreline of the Ottawa River requires a coontractor with special knowledge and skill required to install the piles needed for the building into a cement foundation. The administration report noted that the concrete foundation portion of the Pavillon is “a key element” of the project since the goal is to have the building set up and finished before December this year.
The Lefaivre Lions Club has been working with the township on various plans for improvements to the riverside park. The club has guaranteed $100,000 to cover the expense of constructing the Pavillon.
