Nepean came to the Rockland Arena on Friday, Nov. 25 for the teams’ second meeting this season, the first going to Rockland 4-1 in Nepean. It was another night of penalties for both teams, but the Nats managed to keep the pressure on, scoring three goals in the second period, two more for Nats top scorer Nicholas White, after Nepean opened the scoring in the first. A scoreless third period left the final score at 1-3 Nationals.
The second leg of the double-header in Nepean proved less successful for the Nats. Nepean scored the only goal of the first period, but made it 2-0 early in the second. The Nats responded with two of their own from Adriano Lombardo-Tullo and Jonathan Swyer before Nepean took one back on a powerplay in the 15th minute.
Samuel Beaulne tied up the score for the Nats in the third, but once again Nepean responded to go ahead, eventually increasing their lead further with a last-minute empty net goal. In the end, Nepean negated the Nats earlier win on Friday, taking all two points with a 5-3 victory.
Rockland now find themselves in second last place and the road ahead will not offer any relief. The second place Ottawa Junior Senators are coming to Rockland on Friday, Dec. 2. The Nats will then head to Navan to take on the first place Grads the following Sunday.
